Are anti-depressants actually any good?

Psychology2

Depression is often treated using antidepressants. But an improvement cannot be noted at once as antidepressants take effect only after 4 to 6 weeks. It also has side-effects that you need to cope with, other than your experience of depression. When the antidepressants start to take effect, you will be feeling less and less down each day.

But as the days pass, negative thoughts will slowly subside and the side effects of medication also become less severe. It may take months to recover completely from depression. You will be having a roller coaster ride of emotions. You will feel normal, then feel depressed, and then feel normal again. However, sticking to your treatment plan and having a good support system will definitely help you rise above the darkness.
